Two teenage boys are growing up in a small Canadian town in the summer of 1955. While their parents go about with their own concerns, the two develop an interest in girls. One tries to impress his crush with his father's cars. The other, seventeen-year-old Eric Hansen, becomes enamored with an older woman newly arrived in town.

Romantic comedy starring Corey Haim and Robbie Coltrane. Rural Ontario in the 1950s: living in the country with his father and stepmother, teenager Eric is coming to terms with his mother's death and keeps a diary addressed to her. However, he soon becomes friendly with an older neighbour, Vera.

A really sweet semi-comical coming of age story set in small-town Ontario. Very good performance from Corey Haim. Keir Dullea sheds his automaton persona from "2001" and "The Fox", and grasps a small, but emotional part. Particularly good (and beautiful) was Barbara Williams, who I don't see very often. The rest of the cast was also top-notch. Dragged a little bit about 2/3 through but picked up again.
